Three Twenty One

1994

The Lion King

1994 was a great year for movies. This month celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Lion King, a film that made a huge cultural mark in pop culture. I still remember sitting in a darkened theater and seeing the trailer for the first time, that initial glimpse of sun rising over the horizon, hearing the first strains of Carmen Twillie’s voice. The trailer consisted of the entirety of the Circle of Life, shown exactly as it does in the film. Right on the final beat of the song boomed the title, in red, on a black background. It was awesome.

That wasn’t the only one. 1994 had an unusually high number of game-changers. Remember these?
